Bikram Yoga is a series of 26 postures "asanas" performed in a heated room, which allows the body to become more warm, pliable and relaxed. This provides for deeper stretching, the release of neuromuscular tensions in the body, and detoxification of your entire system. Each posture is done in a specific sequence and is sequentially designed to scientifically warm and stretch muscles, ligaments and tendons in the order in which they should be stretched. The Bikram method will also stimulate the organs, glands, and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood to 100 percent of your body, restoring all body systems to a healthy working order.

I teach a gentle yoga class to a wide range of people in sports centers, community centers, hospitals, and senior centers. I work with all kinds of common medical issues such as low back, knee, arthritis, etc. In the past year I have put together a class for men, which has helped them play sports and be aware of their limitations, resulting in fewer injuries. I can also work with more serious medical issues privately. The yoga class explores and promotes your own knowledge of your body and facilitates a personal understanding of your body.

Greetings from New York. I offer a variety of classes in the lower Westchester area, ranging from chair yoga, restorative yoga, and extra gentle classes to beginner and intermediate vinyasa. I am also available for private lessons. My students have included seasoned practitioners and novices, eager teenagers, and savvy seniors (both active and sedentary). I enjoy helping my students develop flexibility and strength, but most important, I hope my students leave class feeling relaxed and ready to share a smile.
I have been teaching for nearly a decade and I am registered with Yoga Alliance. I am certified to teach Restorative yoga by Judith Hanson Lasater; I've also completed the prenatal yoga teaching program taught by Janice Clarfield. Most recently, I was attuned to practice Reiki by Reiki Master Reyna Gonzalez.
Through my website, yogabright.com, I offer articles that provide information and insight about caring for body, mind, and home. You can also read my blogs on various topics, including body image, food, pets--basically, anything that I find fascinating--with a yogic slant. Thanks for stopping by!
New York-based yoga instructor Laurie Jordan is the author of YAWNING YOGA: A GOODNIGHT BOOK FOR A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP, the creator of Little Sprouts Yoga for Kids and the Director of Kids Programs at Kaia Yoga. She shares her expertise on all things kids yoga as a contributing writer for Elephant Journal. She has a Masters in Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work and is a certified yoga instructor for children and adults.
Laurie’s classes are a refreshing departure from the idea that yoga must be very serious and almost no fun at all. On the contrary, her classes combine her playful sense of humor and laid back approach with years of experience as both a yoga teacher and yoga student. Add to that mix, an awesome music soundtrack–and Laurie’s classes feel like a 75 minute celebration
