Holistic yoga classes - mixed ability, suitable for beginners. The yoga taught is a traditional style of yoga with a focus on the individual, so groups are small. The classes include asana (postures), pranayama (breathing practice), kriyas (cleansing exercises using the breath), meditation, mantra (sounds) and yoga nidra (deep relaxation). The classes are taught with a spiritual basis (though not religious), and are influenced by therapeutic yoga, so are suitable for almost all, including those with health problems.

Barry Elms BSc YRT is a Yoga Register Teacher (Devon School of Yoga TTC Diploma) and holistic therapist (Yoga therapy, aromatherapy/massage, Reiki/healing, flower essences and crystal therapy). He specialises in back pain (Yoga Biomedical Trust trained) and pre and post-natal yoga (Birthlight Diploma). He has an active interest in holistic/integrated healthcare, and yoga philosophy and spirituality in a contemporary Western context. He has two young children.

by Krishnamacharya in India and Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga is a popular vigorous, dynamic form of yoga and it would benefit those seeking strength, flexibility, a clear mind and an energy boost. Ashtanga differs from many yoga classes in the west in that the order of poses is completely predefined.
FREE yoga meditation courses, part of a nationwide programme, are on offer in Plymouth.
The programme is being run
to counter the uncertainty surrounding the credit crisis and global upheaval, and organisers hope that people will treat it as just one step on the way towards a more balanced and enjoyable life. The Sahaja form of meditation has been taught in free courses for over 30 years and in 90 countries across the world. Meetings are staffed by volunteers who supply the tuition as part of the community service programme of the SY charitable trust. Sahaja Yoga mediation classes claim to provide a simple and effective way for people to relax, sleep better and achieve a sense of peace in the middle of the chaos of modern living.
