Enjoy a happy, healthy back, improved posture and a chilled-out mind with Dru Yoga. Realign your spine and get a strong core with Modern Pilates. Manage pain and tight muscles with somatics.
The style of yoga I teach is called Dru Yoga. Dru Yoga is safe and therapeutic and can be adapted to suit everyone from the very advanced practitioner to the complete beginner. A typical class begins with a dynamic warm up and flowing Energy Block Release sequence to limber up joints and release accumulated tension from around joints, following by stretches, strengthening exercises and postures. Breathing exercises, deep relaxation and/or meditation session end the class.
I trained to teach Pilates in 2007 with the Modern Pilates course at Professional Fitness and Education. It is a unique Pilates course in that it takes a clinical approach to Pilates. The focus is on correct alignment, spinal mobility, core stability, correct movement patterns and good postural habits.
Somatics is the key to pain management. Reflexes beyond our voluntary control can keep us locked in painful spasm. Somatic exercise retrains neural pathways to break these habits and free the body from pain.
Classes: Thursday evenings from 29th Jan 2015, Charnwood College: 90 minute Dru Yoga Class Wednesday mornings from 28 January, 2015, St Peter's Centre, Storer Road: 60 minute Somatics class Saturday, 7th March, St Mary's Church , Nanpantan: 2 hour Somatics Workshop

Mike teaches Yin Yoga in Nottingham, UK. Yin Yoga is a slow paced, deep Yoga practice which uses long-held relaxed floor postures that seek to stretch, stimulate and create fluidity in the deep connective tissues, fascia, tendons and ligaments, and encourage a healthy flow of life-force in the body. This distinctive style of Hatha Yoga is particularly effective for working on the hips, back-bends, forward-bends, and twists.

We work with the whole body, using the breath, being mindful of our posture work and completing our session with a meditation and relaxation. Every session is based around a theme to help with our focus; helping us find inspiration in our daily lives.
