We host yoga, meditation and spiritual instructors from the around the world for yoga and meditation retreats and
yoga teacher trainings. Villa Sumaya is situated on the picturesque shores of Lake Atitlan in the Mayan Highlands of Guatemala with an uninterrupted vista punctuated by a skyline of three perfect volcanoes. Our 5,500-foot altitude and proximity to the equator offers a high plane semi-tropical paradise often referred to as "the land of eternal spring." This area is rich in spiritual tradition and many people find Lake Atitlan a powerful and inspiring place to enhance their yoga and awareness practice. Our center has sixteen elegantly decorated rooms with patios and modern accommodations and includes a café, juice bar, healing spa and plenty of cozy common areas. We offer a range of packages for both groups and individuals including meals, yoga, wellness counseling, the creative arts, spa services, hiking, kayaking and cultural activities such as Spanish lessons, shamanic ceremonies and tours of local villages and markets. Yoga and Spa Facilities: Our center has two stunning yoga studios with palm roofs, hardwood floors and panoramic, lakefront views. These studios are equipped with yoga and meditation props, alters and sound systems and are ideal for a wide variety of group workshops including yoga, yoga teacher training, meditation, writing groups and conferences. Our Harmony Spa offers first-rate massage and other healing modalities including feldenkrais, energy work, acupuncture, clairvoyant readings, facials, ionic foot baths, and nutritional counseling. In addition, our facilities also include a solar hot tub and traditional Mayan sauna.
Isla Verde is an ecological retreat center amidst lush gardens, providing awe-inspiring views of volcanoes and Lake
Atitlan, considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. It counts with a prestigious slow food restaurant and 2 wonderful facilities for the practice of yoga and meditation, including one spacious bamboo yoga pavilion that comfortably accommodates 40 mats and an additional wooden floor enclosed platform for 15 people with combined tropical garden and water views through glass panelled walls.

Michelle Fajkus has been practicing and teaching yoga for the past 20 years. She stumbled upon yoga in the early nineties
and established Yoga Freedom in 2002. She shares yoga and mindfulness with students of all ages and offers classes and retreats in English and Spanish. Michelle’s energetic yet relaxing teaching style blends hatha, vinyasa, yin yoga, mindful breathing, and dharma.
