About The teaching of the Shadow School is based upon the ancient Hatha Yogic texts, which state that all fixed forms should be designed to develop the practice of freestyle. Freestyle is a necessary step in the cultivation of longevity and enlightenment.
Natanaga Zhander (Shandor Remete) is the founder of Shadow Yoga. He is an initiate of Nrtta Sadhana of the Pashupati Tantrika yogins and an initiate of the Natha Sampradaya of the Kanpatha yogins. He was born into a Hungarian household and has been practicing yoga since the age of six, when his father introduced him to the practice of Hatha yoga.
Emma Balnaves is the director and a teacher of Shadow Yoga and Nrtta Sadhana. She was introduced to yoga in her teenage years and began her studies in 1991 when she met her teacher Shandor Remete. Emma has had prior training in Classical ballet and Shaolin Martial Arts. Her formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts in design, a diploma in Marma Shastra and five years of part-time Ayurvedic studies in Kerala, India.
