About my Guru: Mrs. Shashi Khosla or Shashiji as everyone calls her.

Mrs. Shashi khosla is a living maestro of Yoga, a true teacher and healer who started her journey into the subject after her marriage to an ace photographer and writer Mr. Ramesh Khosla. According to her , it was her father- in- law who gave her the motivation and guidance to opt for a course in Yoga , which she agreed upon only with the thought of giving respect to elders and gaining some knowledge of the subject , though she was not very keen on it. The only support she had was her degree from YMCA college of Physical Education, Chennai, Madras which gave her a thorough base of anatomy and physiology of human body. She registered herself in a 6 months course of Yoga from Kaivalyadham, Bombay; which was a pioneer institute of yoga those times. After the demise of her father in-law, she opened up a small institute of Yoga as gratitude towards him on his birthday 7th August 1985, and then there was no looking back. She again registered for another 6 months course in Yoga as a therapy from Kaivalyadham, charni road, Bombay where she understood the role of Yogic knowledge in treating various ailments .She also attended various workshops as a speaker to world congress of Alternative Medicine and was awarded Gem of alternative Medicine in 1998 by International Bureau of Alternative Medicine ,West Bengal and Doctors certificate in Alternative Medicine from Open International University of Alternative Medicine. She also received many job offers of being the professor of Alternative Medicine but she was keen on her own research.

Her experiences:

On the road to healing people she realized that it is very important to cater to each individuals physical, mental and spiritual requirement and she found her bottom line in dealing with the root cause and not the reactions. Every case was a challenge to her and she took it gracefully. Her motto is We must make our body work for us. She helped people to find answers to their ailments in a easy way and believed if answers can be found from nature in a simple way then why to torture the body, all we have to do is to maintain the natural curve of the spine and use asanas only as a tool to heal and maintain healthy and not the essence of yoga. Her driving force was the support and encouragement from the family members. She has cured 1000s of aspirants and also cured them on the way but never got any negative results as she taught individuals and not classes.

Simplicity was the key to success in all her cases and she adopted innovative approach everyday so that students are aware of their own progress and have self- realization in whatever they do. She used Mantras (mystic seed syllables and sounds) and Mudras (hand gestures) as a complementary approach to heal people which had difficulty in performance of asanas. She changed the program as per the progress and understanding of the patient/student to avoid boredom and develop insight and depth of the subject. According to her understanding of the subject is more important then finding standard answers.

Message to practitioners /instructors:

Be open to learn to live in the present. Remember the blessing to forget: We as humans forget the good and remember the bad although nature has given us the blessing to forget the bad and remember the good.
