Ashtanga yoga is the best full-body physical workout you and your loved ones will ever experience along with wonderful meditative benefits. I teach in the traditional Mysore style with hands-on assists, great for both beginners and for those who already have an established practice since you only progress into the practice as you are able. We will also largely focus on proper breathing and correct alignment, both not always taught properly in classes. I also teach hands-on assists to teachers.
In 8 months one of my students, whom had no prior yoga experience, lost 70 pounds. Of course he worked hard to achieve that result along with full-body strengthening, toning and increased physical endurance. Another student was thrilled that she dropped a full dress size practicing with me 2 times a week over 2 months. Other students tell me how their back problems, breathing and posture have improved. I am one of the few teachers in Philadelphia teaching traditional Ashtanga yoga healing therapy exclusively to private students. My on-going advanced training since 2004 with Manju Jois, whom introduced Ashtanga to the U.S. along with his father in 1975, focuses on the traditional practice and yoga healing therapy. Manju's father, K. Pattabhi Jois originated the modern Ashtanga practice. I am authorized to teach into the intermediate, second series. My Special 'New Year's Resolution 2013' Reduced Rates: 1 1/2 hour sessions are $80. 5 Sessions purchased in advance are $375, only $75 each; 10 sessions purchased in advance are only $700, $70 each; and my group rate is $250. My regular rate is $140 a session. My experience also includes training athletes at the University of Pennsylvania, teaching other yoga teachers, working with people recovering from surgeries & cancer, with children, and with corporate groups.
