In my teaching, I have encountered many people who have tried health club yoga and found that all the reasons they felt drawn to try yoga were down-played or absent altogether.
"Gentle" yoga does not mean "easy" yoga. The strength developed in this practice is beyond mere physical strength. Moving slowly and holding poses often brings us powerfully face to face with our physical, mental and emotional "edges." A gentle practice seeks to bring the precepts of loving-kindness and non-harming into the development of physical, emotional and spiritual strength. In this way, the body becomes the vehicle for, rather than an obstacle to, spiritual awakening.
90-minute classes are structured for all levels of ability and familiarity with yoga. I teach a mindful approach to the physical poses?finding stillness in movement brings a meditative awareness to the practice, on and off the mat.
