Jennifer Pettit's exploration of yoga began in 1992, during which time she practiced a range of traditions before finding her home in Hatha Yoga.
She completed an Anusara Teacher Training in 2003, specializing in pre-natal and postpartum yoga. She continued her studies in this area of women's issues, earning certifications both through Baby Om and The Barnes Method -Yoga for Two (Pre-natal and Mommy & Baby). She has studied the pelvic floor with Kelly Kane (pilates based), Jacki Nett and Leslie Howard (Iyengard yoga based)
Her teaching is steeped in the personal experiences of her own pregnancy and postpartum, and is enriched with her continual self-study and work with her students and their experiences. She teaches out of desire to serve other women experiencing the incredible journey into motherhood, and to share with them life-affirming techniques yoga offers for opening, for the body, and for life.
While specializing in prenatal and postpartum, her interest in therapeutics has led her to work with specific issues of the pelvic floor as well as general sports injuries and repetitive stress injuries with both women and men.
Jennifer has been teaching prenatal and baby and me yoga since 2002 with Baby Om, Mary Barnes, Yoga for Two (the Barnes Method) and at Virayoga in New York City. Jennifer's teaching has been deeply influenced and graciously guided by Professor Douglas Brooks. She is currently registered witht eh Yoga Alliance as and Experienced 500 hour registered yoga teacher as well as a registered prenatal yoga teacher. She teaches and lives in New York City with her husband and two sons.
