AquaYoga offers the benefits of yoga through stress relief, breathing and traditional yoga postures, combined with the healing effects of a warm water environment. Aquatic therapy uses the physical properties of water to assist in patient healing and exercise performance. These properties include buoyancy, which allows less weight bearing through the joints, and viscosity, or resistance, which is patient controlled by the speed of the exercises. Pressure from the water assists in promoting circulation and decreasing swelling. The water is kept at a comfortable temperature of 92-94 degrees. This warmth allows a calming effect that improves a patient?s tolerance to exercise and overall function.
The aquatic environment prepares patients for dry land therapeutic exercises they may not yet be ready to perform. Aquatic therapy can effectively treat a broad range of conditions. Classes will be held Tuesdays 1:30-2:30 Beginning December 1, 2009
