My specialty is gentle restorative yoga for the physically challenged population. Because of my foundation in nursing, I have a solid understanding of physiology and anatomy. I have extensive experience working with a varied clientele and I tailor the poses for each person’s abilities. I am passionate about how humor and joy influence health holistically and that makes my teaching relaxed and uplifting. I emphasize breath, balance and alignment to enhance flexibility and maintain independence for all ages and capabilities. Intuitive sensitivity and compassion combine with a safe, practical, lighthearted approach to make my yoga classes accessible and deeply healing. “The foundations of yoga practice recognize the interwoven nature of mind, spirit and body. Compassionate yoga practice allows the body, spirit, and mind to heal on all levels.” Annie Muriel RN, RYT
The desire to heal brought me to nursing many years ago. I have been a RN for 22 years and have practiced yoga for 15 years. Yoga proved to be invaluable to relieve job related stress, so it was an obvious step to become a certified teacher and bring the transformative benefits of yoga to others. My training as an instructor was with Tias and Surya Little, Prajna Yoga, in Santa Fe, NM. I have studied with many other teachers, in Canada and the United States. I am registered with Yoga Alliance.
