Sacred Lotus Yoga Studio opened in Brantford in 2002 after owner Christina O’Neill graduated from the 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program at the Yoga Centre of Burlington. For the past 8 years, Christina has been teaching from a local church. With a devoted student base and a growing interest in yoga from the community, she decided to expand to a full-sized studio in 2010. The new location at 44 Market Street (above Brant Stereo) is a beautiful, inviting, and warm space with exposed-brick walls, natural light, and bamboo flooring. Hatha is the most popular form of yoga at our studio, and is the basis for other types of yoga offered such as Ashtanga,Prenatal,Mom&Baby,Gentle&Restorative. Our classes are multi-level, with options given for beginners, intermediate and advanced students. Christina teaches Hatha Yoga, Iyengar style. Iyengar-style yoga focuses on precise alignment aided by the use of props (blocks, blankets, straps,ropes etc.). The props help those who are stiff and need some extra help to experience the full benefits of the postures. The truth is that anyone can do yoga. People at any age or fitness level can reap the many benefits of a regular yoga practice. All that’s required is a willingness to learn, explore, and have fun! Christina has also studied with several international teachers including: Francois Raoult, Nishala Joy Devi, Sean Corne, Rodney Yee, David and Doug Swenson, Baron Baptiste, Cyndi Lee, Natasha Rizopoulos, Judith Lasater, Todd and Anne Norian, Aadil Palkhivala, Jai Uttal, Deva Premal and Mitten, Eoin Finn, Diane Bruni, and Ron Reid. Christina continues to expand her knowledge by practicing with experienced teachers and attending specialized worshops and seminars.
