Jivamukti Yoga has finally arrived on Long Island!
Created by Lisa and Paul Angerame, Project: Yoga is a warm, inviting space, in downtown Northport, where the ancient practice of yoga comes alive. Our teachers and the creators of the Jivamukti Yoga method, Sharon Gannon and David Life, have inspired us to share the teachings of yoga.
“Jivamukti means liberation from separation. Yoga is the natural state. It is the origin of truth, beauty, eternal happiness, and bliss.” – Sharon Gannon and David Life
Project: Yoga is like any other Jivamukti Yoga Center. It is a place for spiritual gathering that offers vigorous Hatha Yoga classes with an emphasis on the Source teachings from such ancient texts as the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita.
In the practices of yoga, our resistance to the natural state of bliss and our attachment to the world of forms and senses is made apparent. When we feel limitation in the body or the mind while practicing yoga, we are afforded the opportunity to concentrate on our true nature, which is love itself, beyond limitation.
Jivamukti is one of nine internationally recognized styles of yoga. It is steeped in scripture, devotion, non-violence, music, and meditation. All of these elements are included in every asana practice.
