Paying attention to precision and the correct alignment of the body in the postures (asanas), Iyengar yoga can also be described as meditation in action. Sometimes the use of props is necessary, in order to improve the posture. Therefore Iyengar yoga can be practised by anyone, regardless of age or physical condition. Becoming more and more aware of his / her body, the practitioner builds strength and flexibility. Gradually the practitioner gets benefits on a psychological (mental and emotional) level.
