• Ashtanga Yoga, meaning "eight-limbed yoga," according to the "The Yoga Sutras of Patañjali," is a method which involves synchronizing breath [pranayama] with movement [vinyasa] & incorporates focused gazing [drishti] with internal locks [bandhas]. The result is a challenging & dynamic sequence of postures [asanas] which flow from one to the next. This practice, brought to the world by the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India, produces an intense internal heat & profuse sweating which purify & strengthen the body, resulting in improved circulation, a light, strong body & a calm mind.
