Tibetan Heart Yoga is a system of asana and meditation. What makes Tibetan Heart Yoga so unique and transformative is that it brings powerful wisdom teachings from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition into daily asana and meditation practices that fit with our modern lives. As it unites the old and the new, it also unites the inner and outer. It works on the inside with our thoughts and emotions, and on the outside with our pranayama (breathing), asana (posture), and actions in the world. The Tibetan Heart Yoga system shows us how to take yoga off the mat and into our world where we can use it for radical transformation.
The Lady Niguma Series: Lady Niguma lived in India about 1000 years ago. She was the partner of Master Narapa, the yogi who brought yoga to Tibed in the eleventh century. She was, herself, a very accomplished yogini. She designed a yoga practice to remove the stress and trouble of modern life. Her yoga, called machine of the body in Tibet (trul-khor), is unique in that the asana is described as a method for enlightenment. It works at the level of the emotions-in the subtle body-the place where the prana flows. Her yoga works to open the chakras in the body, creating the climate for happiness.
