Most yoga names like ashtanga, Bikram, etc. are made up. Traditional yoga is NOT beginning-to-end fast-paced calisthenics nor is it just a seated meditation. In this class, taught by an Indian instructor raised in the Vaishnava tradition that BKS Iyengar and Krishnamachari come from, we practice yoga as a medium-paced physical meditation. We may slow things down or speed it up to suit the students.
Is there a fee?
We do not believe in commercialization of yoga and so do not charge a fee. However, we thought it's good karma to compensate the church for the space. So we're suggesting a donation based on a sliding scale of $1 to $10 per class.
What should I bring with me? Please bring a yoga mat (most department stores have them).
How frequently do we meet? We meet twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 pm. If the instructors have to be out of town, class may be cancelled. Please contact the instructors at RKN312@gmail.com to be added to the email list. What is leela? Leela in Sanskrit means play. Although yoga is a serious mind-body-spirit practice that is thousands of years old, it lends itself to a sense of child-like play.
