Ashtanga yoga is a traditional method of yoga that combines movement, stillness, breath and flow to create cleansing internal heat and effortless meditation. The emphasis is put upon regulating the breath, concentrating the mind and increasing internal energy. We offer beginner intensives, led classes, Mysore-style classes (a traditional, eastern way of teaching)and beginning teacher trainings. All the teachers at the AYS have travelled to Mysore (india) to study with Yoga Master K. Pattabhi Jois. David & Catherine Garrigues, directors of the AYS, combine 7 years of in-depth study in India. In 1997, they were both presented with a rare teaching certificate by Pattabhi Jois. David & Catherine have also a solid background in Iyengar yoga. They have been student of Vipassana meditation for over a decade. Students of all levels, from beginner to advanced are welcome in our studio.
