Alignment and breath based work in a YOGA UNION and YU TEACHER TRAINING
New York, New York 10001

Yoga Union aspires to a "styleless style," recognizing the importance above all of awareness or consciousness in the pursuit of Yoga. The teaching emphasizes alignment, breath and serenity in all poses to achieve a strong, beautiful and fulfilling practice in an atmosphere of cheerful hard work. Awareness is the foundation of the practice, which is directed towards the individual ability of the student, even within a group class, creating a harmonious community of individual practitioners. The individual and the group balance each other, fostering awareness and collaboration. Alignment and flow alternate, advanced variations being given for advanced students. Yoga Union also offers the only Yoga for Scoliosis class on the East Coast. Alison West, who has been teaching in NYC since 1988, also conducts bi-annual Teacher Trainings, highly regarded for their emphasis on teaching practice and rigorous, all-round training. (Please see Teacher Trainings).

All Yoga Union teachers have completed Alison's TT or attended her Teachers- Workshops , but also are encouraged to study widely with other teachers of outstanding reputation.
