Founded in 1960 by Swami Rama, Swami Rama's Ashram has been teaching yoga and meditation in the context of the 5,000 year-old Himalayan Tradition that explores the unique philosophy and science of Raja-yoga or the Royal Path. This systematic path is designed to integrate body, breath, mind and spirit through progressive levels of relaxation, breathing, postures and meditation. Swami Rama's Ashram serves as a resource of the Himalayan Tradition by way of its knowledge of the language, texts, history and living traditions and their founders whose lineage yet continues. This unbroken lineage can be traced back over 5,000 years and teaches the ancient methods that underlie the variety of meditation systems found in all faiths. The mission of Swami Rama's Ashram is to share the perennial teachings of yoga science (which includes meditation) in their purest, most undiluted form. The practice of this science has been proven to bring about peace and contentment, more harmonious relationships, a refinement of personality, and eventually lead one on the path of Self-Realization. For those who are interested, the Ashram also offers the opportunity for mantra initiation and personal guidance in meditation practice.
