Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa is a yoga destination that is 90 miles from Los Angeles in the mountains at 6000 feet
elevation. If you need to get away for a yoga and spa retreat with Master Yoga Teachers and want a family and pet friendly environment, this is the place to come. We host teachers such as Lilias Folen, Judith Lasater, Larry Payne, Ganga White, Tracey Rich and JJ Gormely. Our in-house yoga studio has daily classes and monthly workshops and is lead by Amy Wheeler, Ph. D., a personal student of Kausthub Desikachar and his family in the lineage of T. Krishnamacharya. This is not a yoga destination for casual yoga studies, rather a place that serious yoga students can come to further their intellectual knowledge and spiritual wisdom in a serene and comfortable environment.

Amy has been teaching Yoga, Health and Wellness as a University Professor for 15 years. She has a B.A. in Health Promotion, specializing in Exercise Physiology, as well as earned her M.A. in Health Promotion and Ph.D. in Education and Psychology. She has also worked as a Sport Psychology Consultant and Yoga Teacher to many elite-level athletes and Professional Athletic Teams. Amy has worked with the L.A. Lakers, U.S.A. Track & Field and U.S.A. Olympic Figure skaters. Amy has published numerous articles, papers and research in the fields of Yoga, Psychology, Health and Wellness.

Method, a holistic practice of mind-body realignment, utilizes the principles of therapeutic movement, stretching and healing. Many of the exercises that are performed in The Method's Therapeutic Movement sessions originated in tradiational Vinyasa Yoga style and Tai Chi—a chinese system of slow meditative physical exercise designed for relaxation, balance and health.

was given her Sanskrit name by Sri Swami Satchidananda of Integral Yoga Institute in New York, NY upon certification as an Integral Yoga instructor. Her vast experience as a professional dancer in popular theater classics as “A Chorus Line” and “42 St.,” adds an acute awareness of the physical body. This special knowledge has brought her such celebrity clients as Tia Carere, Kathy Valentine (Go-Go’s) and the late Anthony Perkins. As a cancer survivor she has a uniquely personal understanding of the transformational healing gifts that yoga can bring to the individual and to the challenging society in which we live. She invites you to “Join in this amazing practice and watch your life blossom.” Namaste Private sessions only, currently on staff at Above It All Treatment Center in Lake Arrowhead.
Big Pines Movement Arts, yoga, Tai Chi, and meditation center is truly a gem of a studio, nestled in Wrightwood, a
small mountain community located high in the San Gabriel Mountains. Staffed with well-trained, caring, and experienced instructors, Big Pines Movement Arts offers a variety of classes to serve students with a broad range of fitness and experience levels. Yoga blocks, blankets, straps, and bolsters are provided, though students are encouraged to bring a small towel, bottled water, and their own yoga mat (a limited number of guest mats are available). As a backdrop for a refreshing yoga, Tai Chi, and/or meditation class, the center affords students a light, airy space with a tranquil vibe and peaceful mountain view. Due to its central location, only about 90 minutes from Los Angeles, Wrightwood's Big Pines Movement Arts is an easy drive, with minimal mountain driving, no matter where you're coming from. Join us!
