I would describe my class as a mix of my own learning experiences... with tons of common sense! I spread what I actually go through in a posture and I appreciate the real and responsible "marriage" between the inner rhythm and the movement... A little bit of everything and a lot of criativity!
Offering classes that challenge your idea of what the "edge" is. Focussed, creative, insightful and FUN Ashtanga Yoga classes tapping the wellspring of Indian tradition, with emphasis on mindfulness and meditative embodiment of principles from philosophical foundations of the Yoga tradition. Classes often include Sanskrit chanting and we explore pranayama in each class to become established in the body-mind mandala. Asanas are taught in the Vinyasa method (linkage between postures, mindfulness in movement, breathing)and in the Iyengar style: longer-held postures investigating the linkages between anatomy, alignment, subtle body, philosophy and self-inquiry.
Julianne's Hatha Flow classes are informed by her experience in Iyengar, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, Integral Yoga and Dance. Her classes are methodical workouts - a nice blend of moderate to intense exercise, relaxation and instruction. A typical class includes a meditative time, warm up, standing flow series with emphasis on building upper body and core strength, an incremental approach to doing inversions, floor stretches, shoulderstand series, breathing exercises and relaxation. You can count on Julianne's classes giving consistent students many opportunities to progress. New students are welcome. Individual attention and modifications are provided. Julianne supports her students to do their "personal best" and reminds them to honor their strengths and weaknesses and manage their attention.

Kelly's classes are primarily taught at the Pacific Cultural Institute in Santa Cruz. Kelly began studying Iyengar Yoga in 1989, and completed the Mt. Madonna Teacher Training in 1997, integrating Iyengar alignment techniques into a primarily vinyasa approach to practice. Her practice has been shaped deeply by her study with her beloved teacher Kofi Busia, to whom she is grateful for teaching her patience and faith. Kelly also spent 10 years studying Anusara yoga, and has great faith in the principles of alignment despite being no longer affiliated with Anusara. She is deeply inspired and enlivened by the practice of Yoga, which is infectious to her students. Her constant reminder is: Watch the mind, focus on the uninterrupted flow of the breath, and delight in the Great Web of Being.
