Vinyasa style classes, specializing in Isometric Monkey Yoga- a fun and challenging synthesis of Ashtanga and Iyengar
yoga, dance and martial arts training principles. Tim starts his classes helping people do pull-ups, then everyone does 2 sets of push-ups before the sun salutation sequences. Laura Camp teaches most of the other classes in a fun and creative flow style. Both teachers are very funny, kind and experienced. The Shala opened New Year's Day, 1999.
I lead an uplifting, flow class with deep, restorative stretches and core work. I emphasize healthy alignment and
uplifting body awareness. Come breathe, laugh, and find physical and mental ease at the Redwood Heights Rec. Center. Mondays and Wednesdays: 10-11 am. Monday and Wednesdays nights: 6:30-7:30 pm. I have been a devoted yogi for 14+ years and have completed the 200 hour AYA certified Camp Yoga training program.

Employing somatic principles during the exploration of yoga asana, Somatic Yoga cultivates a deeper sense of body awareness,
allowing us greater ease in movement, and comfort in being in our bodies. Sharpen your reflexes, get in touch with your inner infant, introduce your head and tail, and awaken your senses as we look at traditional yoga poses. Through meditation, imagery, breath and an open sense of curiosity, we will excavate our bodies from the inside out; relying on developmental patterns inherent in our own body/mind make-up to guide us to a greater understanding of our relationship to yoga. This class is both a launching point for novice students and a deeper exploration for advanced students.

The Open Matt is a martial arts, yoga, and personal training school in Oakland, California. We offer group and private
sessions in astanga yoga, YAMA series, kettle bell yoga and assisted stretching. We also teach Persian/Chinese/Japanese martial arts, striking and grappling arts, posture, self defense, bodywork, and we have an intimate music venue. Our gym is open to men, women and children of all ages and skill levels.
Aside from teaching public and private classes in the SF Bay Area, I plan and manage retreats for other teachers. I
handle all logistics that are needed to plan, create and manage a beautiful and fulfilling yoga retreat vacation. Leave the event planning to us so you can focus your energy on retreat content and teaching!
