Christina DeRosier, creator and teacher of Fleur-De-Lis Yoga, has been a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Instructor
since 2007. She earned her certification while living in an ashram and studying at The Shambhava School of Yoga in the mountains outside of Boulder, Co. with devoted yoga teachers and founder Swami Shambhavanda. Christina teaches and practices Shambhava-style Hatha Yoga. This style uses hatha yoga postures with attention to breath, alignment and the heart to experience inner joy and serenity. It is perfecting postures through devotion, aliveness, and fun. Christina’s class teaches you to center and ground yourself allowing you to become free of negative mental, emotional, and physical tensions. The physical benefits include increased strength and flexibility, but these benefits are lagniappe compared to the inner transformation that organically transpires through the practice of Hatha Yoga. Fleur-De-Lis Yoga is located above The Scott's Coffee Bar in the old St. Tammany Bank Building in Old Mandeville.

Melanie Fawer has been teaching Ashtanga yoga for almost twenty years. As a certified Ashtanga lineage holder of Sri
K.Pattabhi Jois, she feels it her obligation to pass on this authentic knowledge to others regardless of level or previous study.
A deep interest in Eastern philosophy and spirituality in her teens led Melanie to explore yoga in her early 20s. Ultimately, she felt there was more and in 1994, she traveled to India for the first time. She fortuitously met Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India, the father of Ashtanga yoga, who became her teacher. In 2001, Jois certified Melanie to become a lineage holder and carry on the Ashtanga teaching tradition, an honor held by only 18 others in the U.S.
The Yoga Room in New Orleans offers Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga for students of all levels. Led and Mysore-style classes and private instruction are offered and Melanie hosts retreats and workshops.
