Your yoga practice at Lotus in the Pines will combine body awareness, breath work, stretching and alignment, movement
meditation and deep relaxation; inviting you to enjoy the benefits of inner balance, focused awareness and equanimity of spirit.
Our yoga classes are designed to optimize overall health and well-being by facilitating healing, reducing stress and bringing balance to the mind and body.
Our teaching style at Lotus In The Pines is an expression of a lineage going back to Krishnamacharya through B.K.S. Iyengar, Pattabhi Jois, T.K.V. Desikachar, Godfrey Devereux and ultimately our teachers, Matthew and Holly Krepps of Circle Yoga Shala.
In our approach we teach or apply all eight limbs or aspects of the classical or Hatha Yoga system. While our main focus is on asana or posture practice we devote time during class to breath work (Pranayama), meditation (Dharana and Dhyana) and the other ethical precepts of yoga including the Yamas and Nyamas. This connects us and our students to a body of knowledge that had its beginnings in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali some two thousand years ago. This text along with the Bhagavad Gita form the philosophical foundation for what has become our modern-day yoga practice.
We emphasize safety, intense personal inquiry and release of tension and struggle in the pursuit of stability and comfort in the expression of asana. Our classes are appropriate for all levels, from beginner to advanced.
The studio is located deep in the forest surrounded by the calming influence of nature. Come share the peace with us.
