We offer group and individual instruction, Registered Yoga Teacher Training and an Advanced Yoga Studies Program. In addition, we offer Corporate Stress Management and Wellness programs. All our teachers are Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT) with many years of practice and study.
Phyllis Johnston, M. Ed. E-R.Y.T. has been studying and practicing yoga since 1987. She has been teaching since January 2000. She believes yoga is for every body. Classes are breath focused with several modifications offered for each pose to bring yoga to every one.
Our studio was designed and built for yoga in 2008. Our LEED certified green building has a maple floor, natural light and fresh air and a beautiful zen garden. It is a refuge from the stress of our everyday life. Come and enjoy.
Founder of Chesapeake Yoga & Wellness, Julie Phillips-Turner discovered yoga and meditation in 1990. 20 years after
discovering the benefits of yoga, Julie earned her 200 RYT certification, and continues to pursue yoga therapy education that can help with everyday issues, from anxiety to arthritis, caused by stress, and even grief.
Julie completed her teacher training at Golden Heart Yoga in Annapolis, and practices many styles of yoga, including Para Yoga with Rod Stryker, Boomer Plus Yoga with Amy Kraft.
In addition to a certified yoga instructor, Julie is also holds a Certified Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist certification after studying with Kathryn Templeton through the Himilayan Institue program and a Usui and Karuna Reiki Master to give her a deeper understanding of the needs of her students.
Chesapeake Yoga & Wellness offers a variety of Yogic lifestyle events to paired with other activities - from stand up paddle boarding to biking - with yoga.

Classical yoga taught in an eclectic style with emphasis on meditation in movement, inner awareness of breath, and
alignment. classes show influence from Iyengar style yoga teachers as well as the Buddha's Mindfulness teachings. Beginner I class Tuesday morning 9 - 10:30 and Beginner II class Thursday morning 9 - 10:30 at Kent Athletic and Wellness Center. Senior classes at Amy Lynn Ferris Center: Chair class Monday (9:30- 10:25); beginner I class Monday (10:35- 11:30) Free intermediate class Wednesday night at Emmanuel Church across from the Fountain Park 5:15-6:45. A suggested donation of $2-3 for the rental of the space is appreciated. This is my most difficult class. Students work at their own level adapting poses to their ability if needed.

This vinyasa-style yoga class focuses on alignment and positioning of foundational poses while connecting the body, mind and spirit through an awareness of the breath. Students will gain flexibility, balance, and strength while immersing in a calming flow sequence that allows ample time to deepen into each posture before moving into the next posture.
Ashtanga Yoga classes for beginners as well as ongoing and experienced students. Joseph Pilates classic mat series
