Twice a month, typically on Sundays unless otherwise noted due to astrological significance, we offer Festivals for
the public to come and receive teachings or Upadesh by our practicing Gurus Sri Bhagavan VaShi Baba and Sri Mirabai VaShi Devi. This is a powerful and amazing opportunity to meet two individuals who have dedicated their lives to practice. They both formally practice yoga for over 8 hours a day and it is difficult to receive their darshan however as part of their service to the world they offer these teachings to all.
At Hridaya Hermitage we are practicing a form of Vatatapika Kaya Kalpa descending from the oldest, unbroken lineage of Yoga. Vashi Vatatapika, “ the controlled path of air and light”, focuses primarily on adopting the systems of this rare lineage of authentic Yogic lifestyle to achieve perfect health through mastering Yogic techniques of vitality and rejuvenation. Traditionally prescribed for royalty, public servants, and householders this method emphasizes the need of invoking a gradual process of physical purification, harmonization, and rejuvenation over a longer period of time, coupled with a gradual increase in intensity. The practices and techniques of this process require thorough understanding and guidance to accomplish and involve comprehensive instruction to achieve. The process of learning and applying these techniques lead the practitioner along a journey of abounding physical health, greater mental and emotional clarity, and an expanded awareness into the ultimate potential of this life.
Rolling Meadows, a 100 acre yoga and meditation retreat center over-looking the hills of coastal Maine, provides a
unique environment for inner reflection away from the stimulation, demands and distractions of daily life. Scheduled silent retreats for up to 10 participants are offered throughout the year blending meditation, creatively-explored hatha yoga, and guidance in the direct path of self-inquiry.
The format of these retreats has been developed over the years to provide a supportive environment to allow us to shed light on the habits and patterns that keep us from living in the ease and peace of our true nature.
A container of shared silence is maintained during these yoga retreats, except during the sessions. Silence is restful, being the mirror of our natural state. This silent community creates a supportive environment in which to surrender to the inner silence, allowing us to question our conditioned beliefs and surrender to the truth of our being.
Patricia Brown and Surya Chandra Das are the teachers at this yoga retreat center, bringing 30 years of teaching and practice, encouraging students to cultivate intuitive receptivity and openness guiding them to find the unique expression of their True Nature. They also travel to lead yoga retreats in Guatemala, Mexico, and throughout the US.A
