Mindful Movement is a peaceful Yoga studio in Monroe, MI, that is dedicated to the integrity, intelligence and love
of meditation through movement. Yoga is a beautiful practice to develop strength, flexibility and balance in all aspects of our life. In a world filled with distractions, obligations and stress, it is beneficial to our health that we take time to cultivate a healthy lifestyle. A lifestyle that does not just focus on the outside, but more importantly, the inside. During a 55 to 75 minute class, we will explore the realms of the body physically, mentally and if we choose spiritually, in hopes of stripping away some of the garbage that life throws at us. So often we go throughout our day ignoring our breath, what we put into our bodies, and what kind of activity our bodies receive. Over time, we begin to feel the affects of what this type of neglect does. This dis-ease that we feel, will eventually turn to disease. I believe that this type of deterioration within the body can be slowed, and even to a point reversed, if we take time to notice and change our habitual patterns. Beginning Yoga students will gain knowledge, strength, stamina, and suppleness and feel blissfully balanced as we
learn to listen to our body in a new way, and honor its limitations. Each class will focus on an introduction to basic yoga poses, healthy alignment and yogic breathing. The class ends with deep relaxation, leaving the students in a rejuvenated and serene state.

Siddha yoga is primarily a spontaneous process which begins at the time of receiving a mantra. At this time, the
process of kundalini awakening begins in an individual. Initially, asanas (postures) and mudras (energy seals) occur of their own accord, various breathing patterns manifest, and the ladder of yoga is gradually ascended (sense withdrawl, concentration, meditation, etc. all happening spontaneously.) There are innumerable benefits that are accrued even in the very early stages of this practice. These vary from improved health, including the elimination of various disease, to mental peace. And of course, regarding spiritual development, it has been said that without kundalini, there is no yoga.
Kathy began her practice with the intention of becoming more flexible but quickly realized that yoga offered so much
