To Shannon, yoga is an eye, mind, and heart opening practice. She is passionate about sharing with students the importance
of accepting the present moment, embracing who we are right now, and learning how to relax not only in class, but in life. Shannon encourages her students to listen to their body and their inner wisdom while exploring their edge.
Shannon found her way to yoga after becoming overwhelmed with stress and insomnia in college. She found yoga's focus on the moment to be liberating and enlightening and began to practice regularly. While pregnant in 2007, Shannon became more serious about her yoga practice, using it as a way to embrace her new body, to connect with her growing baby, and prepare for the challenges that were ahead. After her pregnancy, she explored a variety of yoga styles, including Jivamukti, Ashtanga, Bikram, Hatha, Kripalu, Gentle, Baptiste Power, Anusara, Restorative and Laughter, finally being called to study Vinyasa Flow under Cheryl Delaney in 2010 at Princeton Center for Yoga & Health, receiving her 200 hour certification in February 2011. She found the unique dance of body movement and breath in Vinyasa Flow to be beautiful and inviting. Now registered with the Yoga Alliance, Shannon works to bring the valuable lessons of yoga to her students.
Shannon currently teaches at Princeton Center for Yoga & Health and Centerspace Studios. She is also available for group or individual yoga classes.
Before pursuing a holistic career, Shannon received a BA in Public Communications, then went on to work at a New Jersey public relations agency, as well as a prominent national charity. After becoming a mom, she decided to set an example for her son and follow her dreams to share yoga with others.
Jennifer practices and teaches yoga from the heart, offering students a compassionate, soothing, and energizing environment
from which to center oneself and bring calm and focus to the mind. Her classes are aimed towards reconnecting fully with the breath and the present moment, creating balance for one's mind, body and spirit. She emphasizes anatomically correct form and safety in postures, and focuses on breathing, relaxation and meditation techniques. Classes are available at a variety of locations in central New Jersey.
Susan teaches traditional Hath Yoga, Vinyasa, Gentle Flow, Restorative and Prana Yoga. Susan’s yoga classes are an
opportunity for individual growth and transformation, where students learn to tap in to their own sense of peace and inner joy. Combining her experience as a yogi, healer and educator, Susan guides her students on their own inward journey where they are able to reduce stress of the mind and body, build concentration and find the courage to trust their own Inner Wisdom.
Private Yoga: Susan specializes in teaching private yoga classes in order to meet the unique needs of each student. Traditionally, yoga was passed down from teacher to student. Susan follows in this tradition by tailoring private yoga classes to meet you where you are, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Private yoga classes are held by appointment in Central Jersey.
Bio: Susan Martinez, MSW, LSW, is a clinical social worker, educator, and Certified Yoga Instructor and Yoga Therapist. Her qualifications include a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and teaching certification for grades K-12. She earned her master’s degree from the Rutgers University School of Social Work. Susan specializes in trauma and addictions, and she holds a certificate from the Rutgers Addiction Counselor Training (ACT) program. Susan has studied meditation and holistic healing since 1981. She studied mindfulness meditation with Buddhist monks from 2002- 2006, and she is a Reiki Master Teacher. Susan has taught yoga throughout New Jersey and abroad, since 2001. She has had the pleasure of teaching yoga to children, adolescents, adults and senior citizens. *Other services offered include Life Coaching, Reiki Therapy, Reiki Training and Certification, Wellness and Stress Reduction workshops.
A student of yoga since 1992, Sharon is a Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200, RYT 500. She is influenced by many different aspects
of yoga - vinyasa flow, hatha, gentle/restorative, thai yoga, pranayama and meditation using subtle energies. Stephanie wrote Yoga Posture Adjustments and Assisting, and Yoga at Your Wall, which are provided in the cost as well as a huge 500-page manual. An easy schedule of one to two Sundays per month from 12am-6:30pm blends with the rest of your life. Stephanie encourages her trainees to find their own truth and creative style of teaching by exposing them all levels and approaches to yoga. Many of her teachers have their own studios and training.
