Yoga is about
unification of body, mind and spirit using practices developed in India over 2,000 years ago. It brings the body to a state of relaxation suitable for meditation and can also tone the body, improve health and clarity of mind. The Yogashakti system of hatha yoga concentrates on alignment of the body and harmonizing movement with breath. We encourage you to work hard but to have fun at the same time. Our classes are suitable for all ages and levels of experience. You don't have to be flexible or strong, just willing. Our instructors are sensitive to the needs of each person and adjust the exercises accordingly. Yogashakti students get as much individual attention as they need and are encouraged to recognize their own limits, work within them and gently extend them. In days gone by I had 3 yoga centres - in Manhattan,New Rochelle and White Plains, NY. This is our 38th year at this
Queens location. Our classes are small, and each student receives individual attention. Beginners move ahead rapidly here but we are also known for our never-fail method of teaching the headstand and its variations. Our fee is $85 for two months of classes; $10 discount for full-time students, seniors and couples. Your two months begin when you begin, but you can always try a class before signing up. Classes meet on Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings. Call 718-523-1430. We also have a free Thursday morning class for seniors st the Rochdale Village Senior Center I have been teaching Classical Hatha Yoga asana and pranayama for over 40 years and breathing exercises to prepare you for the deepest relaxation ever. We hold a short meditation at the end of every class. Each session begins with unique and deceptively simple mini exercises for improved circulation. You get a powerful workout that doesn't feeling like a workout. I received an MS in Bio/Nutrition 28 years ago from the U. of Bridgeport, well known for it's outstanding nutrition program, and am happy to answer your health questions. Bikram Yoga, also known as Hot Yoga, is a style of yoga developed by Bikram Choudhury. Bikram Yoga is ideally practiced
in a room heated to 105?F (40.5?C) with a humidity of 40%. Classes are guided by specific dialogue including 26 postures and two breathing exercises. Classes last approximately 90-minutes. People of all levels, ages and body types practice and start together as this is a beginning yoga class.
