Live Love Teach when we noticed a rather urgent gap in Yoga Teacher Training Curriculum. We’ve coached thousands of yoga teachers. It was obvious to us that most were never taught the art and science of standing and teaching.
We codified the elements of effective teaching. We reinvented the typical yoga teacher-training curriculum around the act of teaching. When we say “effective” we mean those classes that leave the students in Savasana in a transformed state, wondering where the time went.
We have systematized what went right in these classes. The result is a tangible connection between teacher and student. The teacher is both highly alert and deeply relaxed. The teacher is really seeing and hearing the class. The teacher is perfectly relevant in words and range of expression. This state of clarity is yoga. Why not learn to teach yoga while practicing it? Our graduates know the art and science of teaching an extremely effective class. Many graduates have attracted quite large followings, opened their own studios, and/or have expanded their teaching to include workshops, teacher trainings and yoga festivals. The training is unlike most offered.
Marinda Hollar is a student of Dharma Mittra and is certified to teach Dharma Mittra classes. Marinda has owned Arlington
Yoga Center for 10 years. She brings 23 years of experience in body/mind/soul teachings to the center. Years of studying and metaphysic/spiritual writing and psychotherapy, and also after meeting several spiritual leaders, have led Marinda to redirect and focus her life on creating a wellness/spiritual community for yoga. Marinda is registered with the yoga alliance to teach at the 500 hour level, the highest registry available. Marinda was inspired to open her original yoga center by Dr. Maha Maharashi Paranjothiyar (Guruji), head of the Universal Peace Foundation in India. Guruji returns to the Arlington Yoga Center bi/annually to lead workshops in Kundilini Yoga. Marinda sponsors regular workshops with a variety of seasoned yoga teachers.
David High has practiced Bikram yoga and other similar styles of hot yoga for the last 4 years. He has recently completed the 500 hour Yoga Alliance teacher training. David has attended a wide variety of yoga classes of different styles, including Vinyasa Flow, Power Yoga, traditional Hatha Yoga, and Iyengar. This has given him a deeper understanding of the mind/body connection and the relationship between the breath and movement. The classes David teaches are a reflection of his practice. He sequences postures in a systematic way that synchronizes the breath and movement from asana to asana creating an energizing flow that builds strength, stamina, and endurance.
Lynn Macaluso is currently an elementary school counselor in the Hurst, Euless, Bedford School District. She has been in education 23 years. Seven years ago, she began practicing yoga. She has been attending classes at Arlington Yoga Center on a regular basis. She has also attended numerous workshops in Dallas and in other locations. In June of 2007, she was privileged to study and train with Dharma Mittra In NYC. She has now completed her 200 hour training and internship. She currently teaches Dharma Mittra Yoga Level I on Sat. mornings from 9:00-10:15.
