Heather is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and certified Trauma Informed Yoga Therapist (TIYT) who has completed
her training and certification through the Integrative Yoga Therapy teacher training program at Sundara Yoga Therapy in 2014. Integrative Yoga Therapy is a training program with a specific focus on health and healing. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL.
Combining her psychology background with the knowledge and resources obtained through her yoga teacher training, Heather offers yoga to her students as a means to achieving inner balance and a healthy mind. While her teaching style is broad in scope, she is particularly interested in using yoga as a supplemental therapeutic tool for ADHD, anxiety, and other mental health concerns.
In addition to asana, or the physical postures in yoga, Heather incorporates breathing exercises (pranayama), meditation, Yoga Nidra (guided relaxation), mindfulness training, nutrition education, aromatherapy & essential oils into her healing practice.
