Elizabeth teaches in the Iyengar style, and is a certified teacher in that method; her teaching is both compassionate
and respectful towards each individual, while inviting challenge of preconceived limitations held by each practitioner. Iyengar yoga teaches us to listen deeply, attuning our awareness again and again, working with precision and intelligent use of props to achieve balance and health in the body and internal state. Wise challenge towards oneself is encouraged. Class begins with reflection on practice from a philosophical and spiritual perspective, and then unfolds into the physical postures or asana work of the discipline. Short meditations and a time of savasana, or resting in stillness follows the asana practice.

Melissa will lovingly hold space for you to excavate the gems that make you uniquely amazing. Originally from Boston
and raised mostly Catholic, her Guatemalan mom exposed her to many Spiritual practices. At age 8 Melissa was given the name “Padmavati” (lotus flower) by the late Siddha Yoga guru Swami Muktananda. After years of beating up her body snowboarding and skateboarding and beating herself up mentally for everything, she sought out yoga in 2000 for healing and arrived into a life-changing daily yoga practice with Baron Baptiste, her main teacher. Melissa moved to Bellingham to raise her 2 boys and teach yoga. She leads programs for the Baptiste Institute and enjoys traveling around the globe to teach yoga. Melissa is an Experienced, 500-hour Certified Baptiste Yoga Teacher, Certified Standup Paddle Yoga Instructor Trainer, and Certified Igolu Leader.
