NW Yoga Shala is located in a quaint beach community called North Beach in Port Townsend Washington.
The Shala (school) offers weekly yoga classes, monthly workshops, RYT-200 hour Teacher Training programs and private sessions. Debra Wolfe teaches Alignment-based Yoga (Iyengar method,) which is a form of Hatha Yoga with an emphasis on detail, precision and structural alignment in the performance of postures (asanas) and breath control (pranayama). The development of strength, mobility and stability is gained through this style of yoga. Debra specializes in structural Yoga Therapeutics for those seeking personalized guidance to overcome their physical challenges and alleviate pain so that they may bring their bodies into balance. Her approach is based on the Classical Yoga of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and Krishnamacharya's principle of adapting to the individual. She works extensively with props and The Great Yoga Wall™, to help access postures (asanas) correctly and bring the body back into alignment physically and energetically. The Yoga Lodge on Whidbey Island offers a wooded setting for yoga and Ayurveda study, solo and small group retreats.
Yoga classes and private sessions are taught by Wendy Dion, RYT and incorporate asana, meditation, pranayama and Ayurveda. Wendy's background includes Iyengar certification under Patricia Walden and Anusara inspired status. She is currently studying Ayurveda with Kumudini Shoba and teaches a blend of styles.
