Summer Dien is an international yoga teacher. She was born in Vietnam and raised in Minnesota. She has lived in Japan, Brazil, the Middle East and Asia. She speaks English, Japanese, Vietnamese and Portuguese. In her life before becoming a yoga teacher, she was a kindergarten EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher for three years. She completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Minnesota and holds a Master's in Education.

Summer completed her foundational teacher training in 2013 with Paul Dallaghan at Centered Yoga in Koh Samui, Thailand. She started doing yoga in Doha, Qatar in 2010 and began teaching informally in her apartment shortly thereafter. Summer worked at Samahita Retreat (home of Centered Yoga) as a yoga teacher and wellness advisor for two years from 2013-2015. She taught led ashtanga, restorative yoga, and guided meditation classes. She also assisted in the mysore room and on trainings and retreats. She continues to study extensively with her teachers Sri OP Tiwariji and Paul Dallaghan in the areas of pranayama and asana. Summer is trained in the classical pranayama practices (kriyas and pranayama techniques) of the Khaivalyadham lineage and in the traditional ashtanga vinyasa system. Summer has a liberal, non-dogmatic approach to asana and believes in using the body in the most intelligent way possible. While non-traditional in some ways, she adheres to the general principles of the Ashtanga Vinyasa method. She advocates modifying the poses to suit the student's current needs and abilities. She is a dedicated practitioner of pranayama, ashtanga, and Vipassana meditation. Summer is committed to the path of yoga and dedicates her life to fully supporting and uplifting others by passing on the ancient yogic practices of asana, pranayama, and meditation.

SCHEDULE: 8-9 am: Guided Contemplation & Pranayama 9-10:30 am: Ashtanga based led class or Mysore 10:30-11:30 am: Brunch AFTERNOONS FREE 4-6 pm: Workshop & Gentle restorative yoga 6-7:30 pm: Dinner 8-8:30 pm: Guided Meditation

About the practices: We will start each day with a guided contemplation on gratitude, forgiveness and guidance. Then we will learn the yogic kiryas and some different pranayam. After a short break, we will return for some asana. Either a led ashtanga class or a mysore style self-practice, depending on the group and their needs. From brunch until 4 pm, you are free to enjoy! 4-5 pm will be a workshop, maybe focusing on sun salutations, inversions, backbends, breathing, Q&A, etc. 5-6 pm is a gentle restorative class, moving through some more therapeutic asana, restoring the body back to a state of balance and harmony. After dinner, we will have a short guided meditation session.
