Module A-October 13th-27th 2012 Module B-July 7th-21st 2013 Byron Bay NSW Australia TEACHER TRAINING level 1 200 hours approved by Yoga Alliance. This training represents a distillation of understanding aquired through Flo's life journey in yoga and healing. It's aim will be to raise the standard of teacher trainings. This training is for you if you seek excellence and depth in your understanding of yoga, and wish to see yoga teachers respected as experts in their field. The purpose of this training will be to lay the foundations of understanding both the subject and the self, that is required to then offer guidance to others. The training will have a strong focus on injury prevention, and yoga for special needs. It will lead into a level two 300 hour training which will focus on Yoga Therapy (to be offered in 2011/2012.) There will be a pre-requisite level of self awareness required, supported by at least two years of dedicated consistent yoga practice to be accepted as an applicant for this training. SELF PRACTICE The training will include daily three hour morning dedicated meditation, pranayama and asana practice with a firm foundation of awareness of alignment in the postures, and the connection between the body, the breath, and the state of mind. We will cultivate the witness within, and work at all times with an attitude of honesty and genuine self inquiry. The practice will be a fusion of hatha, vinysa and kriya yoga, that brings awareness to both the dynamic and the subtle sides of our being. The asana practice will be strong and dynamic, but with a focus on finding our own safe and beneficial level within the practice. Mantra, mudra and bandha will be practised, as well as the hatha yogic cleansing practices (shatkarmas). YOGA FOR SPECIAL NEEDS We will cover a thorough grounding in understanding how yoga works on the body-mind complex. There will be many hours dedicated to alignment skills, yoga for speacial needs, prop work and modifications, and the skills of assisting and adjusting. HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY OF YOGA We will study the yoga sutras and how they are relevant to us in our daily lives. We will look at the connection between Yoga and Ayurveda. We will study the history of yoga and look at Samkhya and Vedanta philosophies, as well as theory and practices/rituals of Tantra and Hatha yoga. ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY OF YOGA We will also study anatomy and physiology of hatha yoga; both learning about how the physical body works, and the yogic application of such knowledge, and the understanding of the 'subtle anatomy' of the pranamaya kosha; nadis, pranas and chakras. This course will run over 4 weeks in 2 x 2 week modules. COST The cost of each module is $2200.00 This includes meals on the evenings of each training day as well as all set texts and manual.
