Children love Yoga. They love the movement and creative expression associated with the asanas. They appreciate the benefits and they cherish the opportunity to "rest" at the end of each class. Their enjoyment of the classes would be reason enough to teach Yoga to children - but the benefits go far beyond. Yoga can give children the ability to:
Develop strength, flexibility and coordination - of both body and mind - Improve focus - Raise self-awareness - Build self-esteem - Release stress - Relax completely - Breathe well - Cultivate healthy habits - Generate a sense of inner peace and contentment they can share with the world
These benefits are available to all who engage in the practice of Yoga. Young children, older youth and teens right up through adults appreciate the chance to know themselves better on all levels and to cultivate a sense of ease and mastery within.
This comprehensive course covers teaching Yoga to young children through teenagers and also includes techniques for teaching Yoga to families and other mixed age classes.
Included in this training:
- Principals of child development at the various age ranges (physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual) - as applied to the practice of Yoga - 12 complete lesson plans you can use right away - Detailed class plan outline with specific strategies for creating your own safe, engaging and effective Yoga practices for children of all ages - Sequencing, modifications and adjustments - Meditation, mantras and mudras - “Creating a Cooperative Classroom” strategies - Games, crafts, stories, songs and “props” to support the practice - Techniques for teaching Yoga to families - Practice of Yoga nidra and how to incorporate it into your teaching - Sensory integration concepts and strategies
