Learn the principles of yin yoga to complement your practice The original asana practice aimed to strengthen the body to sit in meditation. If you have ever sat longer with legs crossed, you know the hips and lower back need to be strong and open. The sensations you felt were deep in the connective tissues and joints. Yin Yoga opens up these deep, dense areas. A dedicated asana practice will make you stronger, and more flexible, but at some point the muscles reach their limit of flexibility. New depths in postures or an increased flow of energy may only be achievable by focusing on the deeper tissues of the body. This is why many students are finding Yin Yoga to be the perfect compliment and balance to their more active, yang practice. In this workshop Eknath will explain the principles of yin yoga and lead a practice of deep stretches to explore your hips and spine. Eknath has studied yin yoga and anatomy extensively with Paul Grilley, one of the leading teachers of yin yoga globally. When: Saturday 4 May, 2013 at 15:00-18:00 With whom: Eknath Price: 45€ |
