| This 3-day workshop of extended learning and therapy yoga is suitable for both teachers and students keen on deepening their knowledge of the mechanics of movement and applied anatomy of the yoga body. Module 1: Friday, 24 Aug 2012 6.30pm to 9.30pm (3 hours) Introduction to therapy yoga to enable movement with ease and grace. This 3-hour workshop addresses breath awareness, the strength and stability of alignment, core strength, and the very refined “deep” movement required to flow. Module 2: Saturday, 25 Aug 2012 Part 1: 9am to 12pm (3 hours) Part 2: 2pm to 5pm (3 hours) Backbends, twists, and hip opening – using the principals of applied anatomy of the pelvis, spine and shoulders. Exploring developmental patterns to support these movements without pain or injury. Module 3: Sunday, 26 Aug 2012 Part 1: 9am to 12pm (3 hours) Part 2: 2pm to 5pm (3 hours) Applied anatomy for complete practice. Learning to practise inversions safely. Standing postures with alignment and rebound. Overcoming back pain, scoliosis, rotator cuff and knee pain. Plus in-depth coverage of the following topics: *Six developmental patterns within the yoga postures: • Cellular breathing • A core distal pattern • Spinal pattern (head to tail) • Upper-lower body • Uni-lateral pattern • Cross-lateral pattern *Applied anatomy of the pelvis, spine, shoulders and shoulder blades • Pelvis – Balance of length and strength of the leg attachments in all directions • Spine – Finding length and strength of the four movements of the spine • Shoulders – Balance of length and strength of the arms in all directions • Shoulder blades – Attachment of the arms into shoulder joint *Principals of alignment, recognizing mis-alignments and learning to read imbalances in others *Core strength – being pelvic floor, abdominals and upper body strength *Refining the postures to move with a sense of ease and grace *Moving beyond bones and muscles to cells and fluids “By finding alignment in the body and using bone strength, we make the connection to the deep muscular attachments that will help create a dance of flow and grace.” – Judy Krupp Judy Krupp, founder and director of The YogaRoom, Sydney, Australia, has a career spanning over 30 years. Originally trained in South Africa as an Iyengar Teacher, Judy now teaches a multi-faceted approach, blending the art of asana practice with the science and mechanics of movement. Her astute knowledge of the body and its movement is central to the core of her teaching to both students and teachers alike. She lives and teaches with both humour and passion encouraging her students to “move beyond their perceived limitations” whilst working at an individual pace with grace and core stability. Judy runs teacher training programs in Hong Kong, Japan and Australia, and conducts yoga retreats throughout Asia on a regular basis.
