Module 1: Friday, 24 Aug 2012 6.30pm to 9.30pm (3 hours) Introduction to therapy yoga to enable movement with ease and grace. This 3-hour workshop addresses breath awareness, the strength and stability of alignment, core strength, and the very refined “deep” movement required to flow.
Module 2: Saturday, 25 Aug 2012 Part 1: 9am to 12pm (3 hours) Part 2: 2pm to 5pm (3 hours) Backbends, twists, and hip opening – using the principals of applied anatomy of the pelvis, spine and shoulders. Exploring developmental patterns to support these movements without pain or injury.
Module 3: Sunday, 26 Aug 2012 Part 1: 9am to 12pm (3 hours) Part 2: 2pm to 5pm (3 hours) Applied anatomy for complete practice. Learning to practise inversions safely. Standing postures with alignment and rebound. Overcoming back pain, scoliosis, rotator cuff and knee pain.
Plus in-depth coverage of the following topics:
*Six developmental patterns within the yoga postures: • Cellular breathing • A core distal pattern • Spinal pattern (head to tail) • Upper-lower body • Uni-lateral pattern • Cross-lateral pattern
*Applied anatomy of the pelvis, spine, shoulders and shoulder blades • Pelvis – Balance of length and strength of the leg attachments in all directions • Spine – Finding length and strength of the four movements of the spine • Shoulders – Balance of length and strength of the arms in all directions • Shoulder blades – Attachment of the arms into shoulder joint
*Principals of alignment, recognizing mis-alignments and learning to read imbalances in others *Core strength – being pelvic floor, abdominals and upper body strength *Refining the postures to move with a sense of ease and grace *Moving beyond bones and muscles to cells and fluids
“By finding alignment in the body and using bone strength, we make the connection to the deep muscular attachments that will help create a dance of flow and grace.” – Judy Krupp
