Upon completing a 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher training course in 2004, Geoff MacKenzie began conducting daily classes in Victoria and then Vancouver, Canada. He later moved to Asia where he taught at Pulse Yoga in Manila, Philippines. For the last six years he has taught extensively in North America, Europe and Asia. In Summer 2010, Geoff attended the Teachers' Intensive course at the K P Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India, thereupon receiving authorization to teach the Ashtanga method. He is a firm believer in the highly adaptable and therapeutic nature of yoga practice and, as such, always places the needs of each individual student first and foremost. Breath/mind/body awareness, "vinyasa counting" and hands-on assistance in key postures are all regular components of his teaching sessions. Students can expect Geoff's morning sessions to be a playful yet deep exploration of fundamental yoga asana: utilizing simple, adaptable postures, breathing techniques and subtle energetic connection to help each individual discover lightness, strength and poise, regardless of previous experience. Afternoon sessions draw more inspiration from the quieter side of practice, creating focused, calm states where equilibrium can be restored and awareness cultivated. |
