Paris-based Nicolas Shanti's Raja yoga brings strength, flexibility and calm through asana, pranayama, chanting and meditation.

Nicolas first discovered yoga in 1995 during his first voyage to India. Returning to Paris, he studied at the Sivananda Center in Paris and Orleans and became a certified teacher in 2001. From 2000-2003, he began practicing traditional Astanga both in Paris and Mysore and took courses with David Williams, Danny Paradise and Darby. He went on to develop his Vinyasa practice during Jivamukti and Anusara workshops in the US and in France.

In 1999, he began a daily meditation practice and decided to become a teacher of Raja Yoga. Since 2007, he has been studying Kriya Yoga techniques and Satyananda Yoga with Monica Neuvy, Micheline Flak, and the Gianfremi brothers at the Satyananda Ashram in Brittany.

For the past ten years, Nicolas has been studying, practicing and teaching Yoga on a daily basis and spends 2-3 months in India every year deepening his knowledge of yoga. He teaches in Paris at the Rasa Yoga center among other studios, as well as privately and runs the Yoga studio at Paradis Plage in Morocco.

Integrating the dynamism of vinyasa with the precision of traditional Indian teachings, Nicolas also likes to introduce the subtleties of Raja yoga into his teaching. During his classes, one will be encouraged to concentrate on breathwork during flowing postures, and to focus on energy circulation and balance in the true spirit of traditional Indian hatha. Emphasis is placed on postural alignment in each asana and relaxation (yoga nidra) is an important part of each class, allowing one to completely let go. All levels are welcome.
