Friday 6-9pm: Inquiry Yoga - Exploring Habits in Practice - $55.00 The sanskrit word Samskara can be translated as imprints on the mind that arise as a result of our experiences; imprints that color our lives in various ways. Our relationships, thought processes and perceptions of reality are all influenced by the grooves we have worn deep through habitual, automatic existence. From a postural perspective, these habits are reflected in our emotions and subsequently spill over into the way we sit, stand, breathe and move through the world.
Whatever we call these patterns, we are aware and acknowledge that some are certainly helpful (brushing your teeth every morning and night!) while others absolutely get in our way. These habits can be transformed or reinforced through our yoga practice, depending on how aware we become of them and how willing we are to make changes once we become aware. Applying the scientific concepts of neuroplasticity to yoga practices, the goal of Inquiry Yoga is to offer practitioners the opportunity to become aware of their unconscious movement choices and offer new patterns of conscious movement that will create profound evolutions in the physical, mental and emotional bodies, creating an invigorated sense of enthusiasm for the connective subtleties that become available through exploratory movement.
Saturday and Sunday "Embodied Anatomy" offers practical sense of how anatomy lives inside of us, taking the exploration of bones and muscles out of the realm of academic books and into realized physical experience. In this place of exploration, asana practice and instruction can go beyond a formulaic, external approach and delve into the biomechanical subtleties where there are endless possibilities for inquiry.
