| Flo Fenton's Lower Back Pain-Prevention and Management with Yoga Pine Rivers Yoga Weekend Workshop-1 Pinedale Road Cashmere With Flo Fenton June 1st-2nd 2013 9.30am-4pm both days, lunch provided Lower back pain is one of the most common ailments worldwide. Unfortunately, even with regular yoga practice, some students still experience lower back pain regularly. How can we avoid straining the lower back in our yoga practice, and how can we use yoga to manage pre-existing injury or pain in the lower back? Over this weekend, senior yoga teacher Flo Fenton will help us to understand and explore some of the major causes of lower back pain…and how it is often mis-managed. We will look at safe practice principals and injury prevention in our regular practice, as well as learning about the three phases of lower back injury…and what we can do through yoga to manage, and recover from, each stage until full recovery is reached. This workshop is suitable for anyone who has ever experienced lower back pain, and yoga teachers who would like to deepen their skills in this important area. Schedule Saturday June 1st 9.30am-12.30pm Prevention of lower back strain-Taking care of the back in daily yoga practice In this session, we will explore some common yoga postures-standing postures, forward bends, backbends and twists-and learn how to approach them in a way that is safe and sustainable for the lower back. This session will include pranayama and meditation. 12.30-2pm-Lunch Enjoy a delicious vegetarian lunch in the blissful surrounds of the Pine Rivers Yoga garden, followed by a walk through the woods if desired. 2-4pm Managing acute lower back pain What does it mean to be in the acute phase of lower back injury or pain, and what should we be doing in this phase to assist our recovery?
