Yoga immersion with Time for Reflection and Relaxation with Anna Laurita May 6-10, 2013

Morning yoga class- 2 hours- on the infinite view rooftop space (think: long savasana, long breathing session, delicious meditation session- not 2 hours of downward facing dog!)

2 hours daily of Yoga studies in these areas: history/philosophy of yoga, asana studies, mantras (songs), mudras (hand gestures), pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation.

Relaxing end-of-day yoga practice to soothe the yogi One vegetarian cooking session and lunch together in the Davannayoga kitchen (Thursday)

One live-Kirtan night of chanting (Wednesday)

Cost: $450usd (this price does not include transport, lodging or meals except for the veg. lunch together. Please see below for housing specials for this event.


Yoga Immersion with Anna Laurita Each morning you will have 2 hours of active yoga practice and 2 hours of yoga studies. You will have afternoons free and then reconvene for 1.5 hours or more of very relaxing practice in the evening. This course is for you if you want to learn more about yoga for yourself or for helping others. This is not a *teacher training, but an immersion program for those who just want to learn more about yoga. Below is our daily schedule and some ideas for spending your idle time here in paradise.

*25 Hours of Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Units for existing teachers will be offered for this course for those interested.

SCHEDULE: Monday: 9-11 - Vinyasa flow with intention and focus - ending in an intro to meditation which we will build upon on all week long (something to take home with you!) 11-1 - What Is Yoga? & Using the 8 Limbs of Yoga In Your Life 5-6:30pm - Evening Restorative Yoga with aromatherapy massage (very relaxing)

Tuesday: 9-11 - Vinyasa Flow with focus on the Chakras 11-1 - History overview of Hatha Yoga - how did yoga get to where it is today? 5-6:30pm - Yoga Nidra session (very, very relaxing!)

Wednesday: 9-11am - Hatha Yoga Session - focus on anatomical alignment 11-1 - Avoiding injury in Standing Postures, Twists, Forward Folds, Backbends -- Keeping the Practice SAFE. 5-6:30pm - Overview of Pranayama (breathing exercises) & Relaxing Pranayama Session 7-8pm - Kirtan!!! Live music with call and response chanting.

Thursday: 9-11am - Energizing Vinyasa Flow with unwavering focus on breath throughout the practice 11-1 - Yoga and Vegetarianism lunch - creating and sharing a vegetarian lunch with discussion on vegetarianism. For vegetarians and those curious about vegetarianism. 5-6:30pm - Gentle Restorative Yoga and guided meditation

Friday: 9-11am - Vinyasa Flow celebrating Ganesh who helps us to overcome obstacles! 11-1 -Where do we go from here? Daily practice creation, daily meditation promises, yogic lifestyle exercise.


Your Afternoons can be spent shopping, sight seeing, walking or enjoying a delicious long lunch on the beach with your favorite book or friend. We can also reserve very affordable spa services within blocks from davannayoga including: Manicure/pedicure; all types of massage; facials and more. For a more active afternoon , there are guided mountain bike rides, hikes, zipline tours and other adventure activities.

At Night you'll want to watch the sun set from the beach (it sets at approximately 8:30pm in May!). The beach is the place to go after evening practice - there are great restaurants that line the beach below our yoga shala.

WHAT WILL THE MORNING YOGA CLASSES BE LIKE? This classes are appropriate for ALL LEVELS wanting to learn MORE or re-fresh their understanding of yoga. The daily practice classes will be created by the leader with the confirmed students' level in mind. There will be many options given throughout these practices so that everybody will be able to practice to their level and range of movement. The daily yoga classes will vary between hatha yoga, vinyasa flow yoga, and restorative yoga.

WHAT IF I CAN'T COME TO ALL OF THE CLASSES? No problem! You can come to the mornings only if you wish. There is pricing below for mornings only, one day only, one day with lunch and so on.

The Leader of This Immersion:

Anna Laurita - photo by Grant Olson Anna Laurita is a registered yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance and has more than 8,000 hours of teaching recorded with the Alliance thus far. She has conducted 13 yoga teacher trainings of 200 hours each and leads daily practice in her yoga shala. She is a yogini on and off of the mat and exudes the yoga lifestyle she leads. The Yoga Sutras are the foundation for her teachings. Her philosophy is simple: lead a yogic lifestyle, serve others and be happy.
