Masterclass 18.30-20.30 Ashtanga yoga -led class An introductory class to the Ashtanga Yoga system. A journey of getting to know ourselves through asanas (body postures) that alternate to each other with flow, harmony, synchronization of breath and motion. Every posture becomes an opportunity to meet -familiar or not- facet of ourselves, reconciliation, transformation. A class suitable for everyone beginners or advanced practitioners. Saturday:
Workshop 9.00-12.00 workshop: 1st series of ashtanga vinyasa yoga The journey continues...The rhythm is slow, which allows practice to be comfortable for everyone. The teaching will cover the whole primary series, with guidance and explanation at every point there is a necessity, 99% practice and 1% theory, as Shri k. Pattabhi Jois used to say.
14.00-15.30 Yoga & ayurveda: A short presentation and introduction to the science of longevity -Ayurveda- and the meaning of the Ayurvedic massage. Reference to the 3 types of human idiosyncrasy according to Ayurveda. Correlation between Ashtanga Yoga and the Ayurvedic philosophy.
16.00 Ayurvedic massage in practice. 30' sessions of massage will be available to everyone who wants to have the experience. The cost is 10€ and 8€ for members (Appointment required)
Sunday: 9.00-12.00 workshop: 1st series of ashtanga vinyasa yoga and introduction to the 2nd series -3 hours led class- After the conclusion of the primary series -Yoga chikitsa (Yoga therapy)- and continues practice of it, the body is in the position to heal digestion and myoskeletal issues, it has acquired the experience and knowledge of it's own power and is now detoxed. The introduction to the secondary series is an experience which inspires the trainee for practice and wakes up in mind new skills. The class will be in constant, slow rhythm, suitable for everyone.
13.00-15.00 Introduction to the 2nd series of Ashtanga vinyasa yoga The secondary series -Nadi Sodhana- will bring balance to the nervous system. The practitioner will have to be in a stable and comfortable state in the primary series in order to continue to the secondary. The class addresses to all practitioners who have a stable primary Ashtanga practice, to those who have attended to the precedent 3 classes of the workshop, and to long-standing Yoga practitioners.
Katerina Zougrou was born the year 1977 in Athens and is graduate of the Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Athens, department of graphic design and Photography. In 2004 she got involved with the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga with Kristina Karitinou. Under her guidance she attended the first teacher's training in 2006-2007. Then she followed a 7 year training to the Ashtanga system as it was taught by Shri K. Pattabhi Jois, by the Yoga Instructor Jean Claude Garnier, which continues until today.She is also involved in meditation and awareness practice as a part of everyday life under the guidance of Lama Tilmann for the past three years. In 2010 she was trained in therapeutic ayurvedic massage in the Ancient Greek and Traditional Chinese medicinal Academy, getting deeper in knowledge for the body, mind and soul through touch and therapy. In 2012 she got familiar with Gentle Bio Energetics - which is the system of body psychotherapy of Eva Reich - on which she is successfully practicing nowadays.During teaching in her classes there is always respect of the body and temperament of the individual. Ashtanga Yoga is according to her, an exceptional method for self-awareness, therapy and development of a human being. Through the combination of practice, nutrition and therapy everyone can have a better quality of life.
