Join us for a weekend focusing on reducing dukkha (suffering, dissatisfaction) and developing a greater capacity for ease and well-being. While the complete elimination of pain and suffering is impossible (the First Noble Truth), we can practise making ourselves at home in our bodies and minds. This workshop will include sitting and walking meditation as well as some basic chi gung and energy-awareness practices. Nourish your capacity to receive comfort both from the inner and outer environment. This is the Buddhist concept of sukkha, ease or contentment.

Edward Espe Brown began cooking and practising Zen in 1965, and was ordained as a priest by Shunryu Suzuki Roshi in 1971. He has been head resident teacher at three San Francisco Zen Centres, and has led meditation retreats and cooking classes throughout the U.S. and Europe. Author of several books including The Tassajara Bread Book, and editor of Not Always So, a collection of lectures by his teacher Suzuki Roshi. Most recently he appears in a movie How to Cook Your Life. Edward’s teachings are both humorous and profound.
