Yoga Workshop: The Issue With THe Tissue

Muscle aches resultfrom a variety of factors, including overworked, tired or weak muscles, poor posture, and the activity of everyday life. Trigger Points are areas of local tension, usually felt as a “knot” in the muscle. In addition to a regular yoga practice, tools such as foam rollers and massage balls can effectively decrease or lessen the presence of muscle “knots” by working with the connective tissue surrounding the muscles, as well as the muscle itself. In this class, students will use a rubber ball, also called a “Pinky Ball”, to manually find and release trigger points in the body, including the feet, hamstrings, quadriceps, hips, gluteal muscles, back, pectoral, & shoulder muscles. The afternoon begins with yoga practice to engage and warm the body, following with “pinky ball” the ball. All levels are welcome. Current RYT teachers have the option to receive 2.5 hours of continuing education. Handouts will be available. Pinky Balls will be provided for use during the workshop, students are also welcome to bring their own. Enjoy freedom from tension and lightness in the body! A great opportunity for self-yoga sequence to stretch the areas targeted with Emily enjoys a variety of movement and strength building activities, such as Yoga and Weight Training. Her practice includes the regular use of a foam roller and “pinky ball” to support muscle release and relaxation.

Emily Weaver completed tteacher training in 2008, Emily has received over 200 hours of continuing education. She is a teacher at Jane’s House of Well Being, and welcomes new students to her classes!

Tami has been a front row fitness enthusiast her entire life, and has been teaching fitness and yoga classes on a regular basis since 2001. Her three “go to activities” at this time in her life are yoga, spin and body pump. She loves to assist and motivate people to live healthy and happy lives in mind, body and spirit. She teaches a mindful style of yoga in a variety of different settings throughout the St Louis area. She is a Yoga Alliance registered RYT-500.
