About Sivananda teacher Lila Conway

Born in England, Lila Conway is an international yoga teacher, writer, massage therapist, world traveller and founder of Yoga Prema ( In 2000 Lila travelled to India to continue her study and practice of yoga, which naturally progressed to her completing the Yoga Teachers Training Course at the Sivananda Ashram, Kerala, India in 2001. Having graduated as a yoga teacher, Lila continued to live a monastic life of service within the Sivananda yoga ashrams in India and Canada for a period of 8 years. During this time, Lila was actively involved in teaching yoga to international students, including Avocado Development co-founder Victor, and assisting in the training of hundreds of yoga teachers. A registered Senior Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, Lila has also been a principal teacher of Hatha Yoga on the Sivananda Yoga Teachers Training Courses in both India and Canada since 2007. In 2008 Lila returned to the UK and currently leads yoga classes, retreats, workshops and teachers training in England, India and beyond.

About Mountainyoga

Mountainyoga was founded in 2003 by Gyan Giri, a Chinese yogi from Beijing who decided to go after the heart instead of other drives in life, with an initial motive to share with others a view of the metropolis away over the Fragrant Hill mountains, who borrowed, rented a courtyard and decorated it in simple styles which grow into the very first yoga retreat centre in China.

Mountainyoga cultivates a passion for living yoga among new beginners and experienced yogis by offering one-day and multi-day retreats that combine yoga with life and cultural activities such as hiking, camping, drumming, writing Chinese caligraphy, painting,etc. Our retreats bridge the transformational qualities of the outdoors and nature with the inner work of a yoga practice. Our participants return home feeling rejuvenated and inspired to explore and reveal their full potential.

The Five points of Yoga (Sivananda Yoga)

Proper Exercise: Yoga exercises focus on the health of the spine, its strength and flexibility. By maintaining the spine's flexibility and strength through exercise, circulation is increased and the nerves receive their proper supply of nutrients and oxygen. The exercises also affect the internal organs and endocrine system.

Proper Breathing: Yoga teaches us how to maximize lung capacity and how to control the breath. This increases vitality and mental clarity.

Proper Relaxation: By learning how to deeply relax all the muscles of the body, you can thoroughly rejuvenate your nervous system and attain a deep sense of inner peace. Yoga teaches us how to achieve this state of complete relaxation.

Proper Diet: The Yogic diet is a vegetarian one, consisting of pure, simple, natural foods which are easily digested and promote health. The Yogic diet will help you attain a high standard of health, keen intellect and serenity of mind.

Positive Thinking and Meditation: We become what we think. Through methods of positive thinking you will learn how to entertain positive and creative thoughts which contribute to vibrant health and a peaceful, joyful mind. Prices: RMB3,000 / per person for dormitory (max 6 persons each room) or RMB3,200 / per person for dormitory (max 4 persons each room, limited spaces)

Retreat Schedule

Friday: - Check-in - Gentle wind down 1-2 hours - Light snack / welcome circle - 1.5 hours yoga class - Dinner - Meditation Candlelight

Saturday: - Meditation - basic Chanting - 7am (optional) - Break - Yoga class at 8am (2 hours) - Brunch - Yoga class at 4pm (2 hours) - Tea cake break - Dinner - Workshop / discussion / satsang at 8pm

Sunday: - Walking meditation - Tea break - Yoga class at 8am (2 hours) - Check out - Brunch - Wind down class for about 1.5 hours or nature walks
