Brahmani Yoga
This 6 week teacher training programme is designed to be an intensive training in the basics of teaching yoga with an emphasis on assisting/apprenticing a senior teacher after completion of the course. Our focus will be working with Ashtanga Vinyasa method as a tool for teaching and practicing as well as complementary styles.

As Ashtanga is quite a strong practice we at Brahmani believe it is important to be able to provide some alternatives as a teacher. It is sometimes beneficial for the body to work in a softer way in order to compliment and balance the intensity of the Ashtanga or any dynamic practice. Therefore on this course you will also learn techniques from Yin and Restorative yoga both as a practitioner and a teacher.

Overall, during the course you will learn to deepen your understanding of the asanas and their alignment, develop your own practice, hands on adjustments, communication skills for teachers, yoga philosophy, anatomy and physiology, pranayama and meditation and good assisting skills.

You will be learning not only in the teacher training environment but also be working in the public classes at Brahmani, hands on, under the guidance of our senior teachers. This will give you real life experience of the classroom with the complete support of the Brahmani staff.

At Brahmani we believe that all forms of yoga are valid and while it is important to do training in one structure in order to understand it and teach it well, it is also equally important to expose the body and mind to the other forms in order to have a more individual practice. Our main aim will be working with Ashtanga Vinyasa and its method but as part of the course you will also participate in other styles of asana practice to get a well rounded perspective.

We put an emphasis on assisting/apprenticing once you have finished the course. There is so much valuable experience to be gained working alongside knowledgeable teachers for an extended period of time that you cannot attain by attending a course. By the end of the course you will be confident in assisting and will also have a foundation for teaching beginners and intermediate classes. For those of you who already teach it will fine tune your skills and allow you an opportunity to delve deeper into your understanding of teaching.
