INSTRUCTORS Nina Beaty- was fortunate to have grown up on North Shore and is dedicated to Yoga and surfing, which she feels compliment each other perfectly. In 2007 completed her teacher training and opened her heart to what yoga brings beyond the physical practice of asana. In 2008 she took a Yoga Philosophy course (, which taught her even more about the bigger picture of Yoga…and has taken the course three times since, absorbing more every time. In 2010, Nina received her YogaEd certification with Brynne Caleda (Stretch Your Imagination) and is currently the yoga educator at Sunset Beach Elementary School under Stretch Your Imagination. Her teachings are inspired by many different styles, including Jivamukti, Integral and Self-Realization Fellowship teachings.

Mara Jasmine Pike- lives on the farm and has been teaching yoga for the past 14 years. She began the Jasmine Yoga school in 2003 on the North Shore and is one of the founding members of the North Shore Yoga Co-op. She has been involved in movement studies, including gymnastics and ballet, for most of her life. She has a BFA in Dance from NYU, and completed a one-year Shadow Yoga training with Glen Butcher of Purple Yoga. She continues her Shadow training with Lita Batho from Portland, Oregon.

Eliza Johnson- is our CSA garden coordinator. She studied education and sociology at DePauw University which opened her eyes to the possibility of simultaneously being student and teacher… which eventually inspired her to pursue a 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2011 under the tutelage of Kelly Morris of Conquering Lion Yoga Teacher Training (Kelly is one of only five Senior Jivamukti teachers in the world) in order to both deepen her understanding and to serve others. Eliza has since attended additional trainings and retreats primarily with Cora Wen of Yoga Bloom. She is a former elementary school teacher, longtime garden docent with Kokua Foundation’s Aina In Schools Program and when not in the garden, running or surfing can be found cooking at the Beet Box Cafe.

Tia Meer- is our volunteer and coordinator and will lead you in some zen time in the garden Saturday. She has hosted many of her own workshops & retreats on her farm in Florida and has lots of experience delicious cooking organic whole food meals and looks forward to sharing the harvest with you.

Meals will be prepared by our farm team, including Tia & Ej Plotter experienced farm to table chefs:)

Limited to 15 participants, RSVP TODAY! Payment will be collected via checks to Waihuena Farm 59-414 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa 96712 (or through paypal link on website to be set up)

FOUNDATIONS- Nina will share what she recently learned from a two week training on Maui about hands and feet on the mat.

HANDS-ON CLINIC – Build upon the foundations practice with a session of hands-on adjustments. Mara will guide you through warm-ups, standing work and floor work with an emphasis on postural alignment and efficient movement. Safe and effective guidance through demonstration, verbal cues and physical assists will give you the opportunity to experience the benefit of physical touch as a tool for a well-informed practice.

SHADOW (CHAYA) YOGA- This class will introduce this progressive form of Hatha Yoga blending common preparatory exercises shared between dance, martial arts and nature, founded by master teacher Zhander Remete. The practice begins with the use of fixed forms or ‘preludes’. These fixed forms help to undo habitual patterns of tension in the physical body, which hinder the movement of the breath and the life force. Before the student moves toward the more advanced limbs of yoga, such as asana, inversions and prayanama it is vital that they practice these preparatory forms. It may take 3 to 7 years depending on student’s constitution to master the preludes. Once the preludes are learned, the winds of the body are harmonized and inner balance is achieved in the physical, energetic and mental bodies.

YIN- Consists of slow opening floor postures designed to bring about maximum flexibility and enhanced health through longer holds and a deeper release. The main focus of yin yoga is in the hips and the back. This yoga is an ideal compliment to all other yoga styles.
